Dark Comedy 03:33
Her body's shakin' from hits she's taken, fat lipped and smilin' with her black eyes blinking at you, oh honey you get what you get, she spends the low times laughin' it up, life's always funny when the bitterest taste slaps the smile on your face, she plays the down card, and it's what she's been through, that I'm so into, her black is brilliant her resilience never fails, she's smoking my last cigarette and she spends the low times laughing it up, life's always funny, there's a lot of sweet things between violent mood swings, and that girl's a dark comedy There's a lot of sweet things between violent mood swings, when the bitterest taste slaps the smile on your face, just don't ask for too much, just a cold face to touch, she goes up, it goes down, work it out she spends the low times laughing it up, life's always funny when the bitterest taste slaps the smile on your face, she spends the low times laughing it up, life's always funny, there's a lot of sweet things, between violent mood swings, and that girl's a dark comedy

I used to get high with this waitress for 47 weeks straight we stayed stoned It wasn't love but it was painless And neither one could stand to be alone And on occasion inspiration illuminated in her eyes And she'd turn on, she used to say I think I was meant for more than this Was there something that someone said I missed What the hell are we waiting for Move on And as for me I had a chest pain That only 7 drinks a day could dull And a hyperactive right brain The pain has laminated to my skull And I never had the right words To spill the secrets I'd have died to tell And never will We were coming down so hard back then Softly strangling strangers into friends Hypnotized in a sleeping spell Time won't Return the smiles we leave behind The point from A to B is a straight line down No stops, no turning around Just take the ride and check it out It's tough to tell I was coming down so hard back then Just the same as today and the state I'm in I've been searching for magic half my life Never been any closer than on that night What the hell were we waiting for Time wont

The scene is sick inside my head, I can't remember what you said so I'm faking it, and I just feel lonely when I'm everywhere and everything is bringing me down, in this town Another vanishing breed, did anybody really need what I gave to them? It's like there's poison in the medicine and I feel contagious so don't get close. But oh, someday I'll fly, I'll be California sky, I'll be five miles wide, I'll be more than you could hide, and I won't forget, not a word we said, like a candlelight vigil for this life you can watch me burn, So put your damage in the ground, and hear the slowly sinking sound of this life you've earned, don't say I never gave you anything if you keep on giving it back, it's too bad oh, someday I'll fly, I'll be California sky, I'll be five miles wide, I'll be more than you could hide, and I won't forget not a word we said, I'll be so far gone, I'll be never coming home, I'll be five miles wide, I'll be more than you could hide, and I won't forget, not a word we said, I'm a candlelight vigil for this life, you can watch me burn.

Diamonds 03:25
You are a light inside of me, the higher truth I long to see, in an electric pulse at night, that whispers sweet to me Your path is lit by lightning strikes, your face alive with firelight, the pearls of promise that you hide, have made me come to life I see diamonds in your eyes, I see fireflies, I get sparked crashed in heaven shooting stars So put your arms around my neck, like a heartbreak tourniquet, I have had this blood before and you'll get used to it when the life inside you flows, and you are wild and beautiful, the pearls of promise that you hide, will make me come alive I see diamonds in your eyes, I see fireflies I get sparked, crashed in heaven shooting stars, and when you lie awake at night, think of me and reignite, crashed in heaven shooting stars

Little Star 05:23
When I feel annointed, patron saint of easy targets lost and disappointed in the fall It's not mine to belong, catch another mystery train and slip away to dawn and on and on   little star little star, I've waited for a million nights to be where you are   Every time I'm close to it, the opal sky in ending autumn I drink a bitter toast to it and call It gets so hard to stay calm, trembling like a tiger's heart with fevered blood so warm, and bright, tonight   little star little star, I've waited for a million nights to be where you are and I wish I may, I wish I might collapse your heart tonight, I've waited for a million nights to be where you are    cause she comes on every night, and she turns on every light, and she makes the darkness fade away   Tonight, little star little star, I've waited for a million nights to be where you are and I wish I may I wish I might collapse your heart tonight, I've waited for a million nights to be where you are    where you are     where you are

Ruined June 04:10
I was heartbroken at 10 When they ended it was not the end Optimistic as I was I couldn't believe when they told me We would all be friends And the worst part was to choose Between heroes, two people, too soon Cursed the starlight When they tore apart the moon And the old man drove away slow Without my say so, so soon And ruined June It's astounding what the heart of a child can withstand In the body of the boy you plant the man And my sister never cries She just lets a little sadness out in every smile And the last time that I looked in the mirror Twas clearer to me that I still carry What that summer did to me And the monster that they gave me Still saves me, some way, every day So I release this to the tide On the endless dark ocean inside And the last time that I looked At the night sky at twilight I knew I'm the starlight, I am the scarred imperfect moon And the monster that they gave me still saves me Some way, every day

The trick is not to think, and don't blink, the highest state of mind is instinct. I love you but I don't like you this way, you should never act your age. I want a love that grows and glows and flows with a tenderness that shows, we're so close I wanna walk you out into the night while a million stars above collide, by now you know I'm wild alive and the kid ain't right the kid ain't right, and you will know I'm wild alive so breathe in, then take another breath of what's left, you're alive and you should love yourself to death, there's beauty and there's bliss endure the rest, and hold your hopes in tight to your chest, I'm gazing out of wise and wilder eyes, and I wanna be surprised, so let's rise I wanna walk you out into the night while a million stars above collide, and you will know I'm wild alive and the kid ain't right, the kid ain't right, yes you will know I'm wild alive, and rage against the dying of the light, so let's get out tonight so let's get out into the night while a million stars above collide, and you will know I'm wild alive, and the kid ain't right, yes you will know I'm wild alive and rage against the dying of the light. so let's get out tonight.

about

We took an unusual approach to recording these ten songs. Since Jeff and Joe had various other projects and family obligations going on, we laid down tracks whenever we could find a 3-4 hour window. All through 2012 we had a pretty good groove of meeting on a weekday morning, and knocking out a guitar track here, a vocal track there. We would usually mix songs as we finished them, so rather than doing all the recording and then mixing at the end, each song went from basic tracks to finished over the course of a couple months worth of these mini-sessions. We were lucky to be able to bring in four different fantastic drummers for various sessions, and programmed drums ourselves on a couple tracks. This approach resulted in an eclectic mix of songs that come from varying places emotionally and energy-wise. We love it, hope you enjoy:)
